Kumi Fujibayashi (Japanese: 藤林 久美 Fujibayashi Kumi) was a third-year student at Aoba Johsai High. She was a libero for the girls' volleyball team.
After graduating high school, Kumi went to college and majored in communication science. As of 2020, she is married to Hajime Iwaizumi and has changed her name to Kumi Iwaizumi (Japanese: 岩泉 久美 Iwaizumi Kumi). She currently works as a sports reporter on the international arm of the Japanese public broadcaster.
Kumi is a cute girl who stands at above average height. She has neck length wavy purple hair with bangs that swept to the left side and two neck length fringes to frame both sides of her face. She braids her bangs when she goes out, one of which is when she goes to school. She has brown eyes with long lashes and thick eyebrows.
In her first appearance, she wears Aoba Johsai High girls' volleyball uniform. She is shown wearing an Aoba Johsai school uniform consisting of a light brown skirt with dark brown details, a lavender-coloured button-down shirt, and a dark red ribbon tie. Kumi is more often seen not wearing the white blazer that goes with the rest of the uniform, with the shirt sleeves rolled up to her elbows and the top button of a shirt unbuttoned. While playing volleyball, she wears a standard Aoba Johsai uniform with the number three on it.
Kumi wears a colorful watch, a purple braided bracelet with lilac flower pendant, and white flower tassel earrings. She always takes them off before playing volleyball.
In the post-timeskip, Fujibayashi has upper back-length hair that is tied up in a low bun with bangs swept to the left side and two neck-length fringes to frame both sides of her face.
Fujibayashi is friendly, cheerful, energetic, and caring towards others. Sometimes she likes to act childish, especially whenever she’s with her closest people.
In contrast to most girls who usually like and idolize Oikawa, she doesn't really like Oikawa and finds him annoying, especially when he flirts her. She liked him more when he was quiet.
Fujibayashi has loved sports since her childhood, and she eventually chose to pursue volleyball.
After graduating, she went to college majoring in communication science.
